Ipamorelin (10mg) — Research Peptide

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide and selective growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR1a) agonist. First described in 1998 (Raun et al., European Journal of Endocrinology), it was developed specifically to address selectivity limitations of earlier GHRPs — achieving potent GH-releasing activity with significantly reduced off-target effects on cortisol and prolactin compared to GHRP-2 and GHRP-6.

Receptor Pharmacology and Selectivity

Ipamorelin binds the ghrelin receptor (growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1a, GHSR1a) in the pituitary and hypothalamus, triggering GH pulse release through a mechanism distinct from — and complementary to — GHRH receptor signalling. At equivalent GH-releasing doses in animal models, ipamorelin produces significantly lower cortisol and ACTH elevations than GHRP-2 or GHRP-6, a selectivity that has made it the standard GHRP in contemporary research designs.

The selectivity profile is attributed to ipamorelin’s pentapeptide structure (Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2), which achieves high GHSR1a affinity without the broad receptor promiscuity of earlier GHRPs. This makes ipamorelin particularly useful in research contexts where isolated investigation of the ghrelin/GH axis is required without confounding HPA axis activation.
